Confession (also called Reconciliation or Penance) is a sacrament instituted by Jesus Christ that helps us obtain forgiveness for sins committed.
According to the precepts of the Church, Catholics are required to go to Confession at least once a year, but are encouraged to go more frequently.
Children enrolled in our religious education program receive the Sacrament in 2nd grade. Preparation for it begins in first grade. Prior the to reception of their First Eucharist, all baptized Catholics must first receive the Sacrament of Penance & Reconciliation. This year it is scheduled for Feb 17th.
It is a Sacrament we are invited to utilize throughout our lives, to receive the graces we need to live out our life as Catholic Christians.
To prepare to receive the sacrament, we suggest doing an Examination of Conscience.
Examples for Children, Young Adults & Single or Married Persons, are at:

If you haven’t been to Confession in a while, the Catholic Church welcomes you to and invites you to once again participate in this beautiful sacrament of healing.
Additional opportunies to receive the Sacrament of Reconciliation are made available during Lent on Mondays when “Welcome Home To Healing” is observed throughout the Paterson Diocese https://rcdop.org/parishfinder, with Confessions being made available at most churches from 7 p.m. – 8:30 p.m.
As our pastor covers two churches, our alternating schedule can be found on the Home page, and in the Church Bulletin - when it is thus offered.

Normally scheduled Saturday Confessions are offered weekly at St. Thomas the Apostle at 4PM, prior to the 4:30PM Vigil Mass, can be arranged by making an Appt. with Father Wayne, or anytime by request.
